These paintings bridge past and present in New York City. The Lower East Side with its old buildings, diverse communities and waves of immigrants was an important topic when Greg lived in the area in the 1980s. Coney Island, rough and historic was an important topic in the 1990, many of those building are now vanished. Likewise South Street Seaport, the great fish market, has closed since Greg documented it. Two paintings record the artist’s experiences and observations on the tragic day of September 11th, 2001 and days after.
